Catechism Cataclysm

Movies this funny are rare
This movie is funny, movies this funny are rare, quite rare. Steve Little is perfectly cast, and the movie is directed with zesty irreverence.

If The Exorcist and Deliverance Got Married & Had a Buddy Comedy
There aren't a lot of movies that you should simultaneously not think about too hard and take the time to think about. This is one of those few. On its surface, The Catechism Cataclysm is a road buddy comedy set on a river rather than a road, with buddies who aren't quite buddies, on an adventure to find what they're missing . . . whatever that is. There's toilet humor, indie humor (is that what it's called? Oh hell, you'll know what I mean when you see the movie), physical comedy, and just plain random goodness. That in the end it manages to also be a feel-good movie is just the icing on the cake.

Behind all the comedy lie some questions maybe worth pondering on a serious level. What do you do when you feel like you're losing your faith? What if it might be the only thing you have? Who are your friends, and why are they valuable? Should you really camp out with those two Japanese girls and their intimidating bodyguard?

If you're a fan of any of the actors, or...

Quarky, Weird, Addicting
Just watch it, it will be totally worth it. It has become one of my favorite off beat indie movies.
